At the time of writing, this site is written in Ruby on Rails with a Mysql backend. The admin section is written in Python using the Django framework, and the models were generated magically using the RailsToDjango script found in the code section. The effects on some of the pages are done with Scriptaculous library. Most of the javascript games and libraries use the fabulous Prototype library in some way.
