The Typo of my discontent

I realise that everyone is hyped about how great Typo is, and I do really appreciate the hard work that was put in to it’s creation, but I’m going to have to vent for a bit.
Typo has such a large number of annoyances that I have no idea how I’ve never heard about them until I discovered them through normal use.
The first on my list of things to hate on is the fact that every now and then, typo will use the permlink of my prior post as the permlink for my immediate post. What this means is that I’m left with multiple posts linking to the same article. This isn’t difficult to fix, but it’s really annoying.
Typing of annoying, the Categories selection list in Quick Post doesn’t seem to be wired up to anything, because my posts are always orphaned after getting saved. This hurts the feelings of my articles, so I have to sit and manually click categories to drop them into.
... ...
Sorry about that, I had to go. “Go where?” you ask? I had to go save my damn post, as typo will log you out after a certain amount of time without warning. Ok, this isn’t super bad, and I realise I should be expecting it, but why is there no sort of draft state for an unfinished post? Are you seriously going to log me out in the middle of a 2k word article without saving my data for me?!
That’s fine, I have no problem with saving things anyway. However, what is pretty damn annoying is that articles seem to get published immediately (WHY!?) when you click save, rather than simply saving it in an unpublished state so I could tailor it as needed before I feel comfortable putting it online. What this means is that feed readers (shut up, there are some people who subscribe to my feeds! (thanks mom!)) are picking up my articles before I even have a chance to finish them. I am aware that this could be a good thing, as most of my drivel probably needs scoped to a more limited audience, but a real author could be losing readers over this. I suppose that’s the reason that there aren’t any ‘zines powered by Typo.
The admin interface is also awkward at best, and feels like it could be doing quite a bit more to save the amount of effort I have to put in to creating an article, or adding one to multiple categories.
Anyway, I know how it goes. “If you don’t like it, write your own blogging software, or submit patches!”
Yeah, I will. I have a sort of limited attention span that only allows me to fix a non personal project, or reinvent the wheel if it drives me crazy. For that, I’ll keep on using Typo until I’m driven to the brink of code writing. Until then, I’ll continue to modify my version of typo to suit my needs.
