Look ma! I'm an iPhone Dev!

Today is a pretty special day for me. I just came online to check my email and waiting for me were two emails from Apple letting me know that the two iPhone applications I submitted to the App Store have been approved and their statuses have changed to ready for sale.

The two applications, called Clax and BCD Clock, were my first ‘real’ iPhone applications, and the first ones I’ve submitted to the App Store.

I was a bit surprised with just how fast I received notice of their approval. They were submitted back on the 7th of this month. The entire process, from submission to approval, only took 5 days. This is much less than some of the horror stories I’ve read about where developers waited several months to find out their status.

I’d also like to note that I had no real code signing or submission issues like so many others apparently have. Overall I’m quite impressed by the entire process, though it was a bit awkward trying to navigate itunes connect at first.. A more obvious route to some instructions on how to package the binary for upload would be much appreciated. The video on App Store distribution was the best resource I found on this matter.

I also wouldn’t be opposed to some more detailed interim status info while you’re waiting for a decision.

I do have a few other applications in the works, which I had actually put on hold until I received a response from Apple on these 2 apps, but now that I know the approval process isn’t something to be scared of, I have a renewed interest in iPhone development. Hopefully I’ll have my other apps done and up on the App Store shortly!

As a result of Apple’s requirement of a website in order to submit an application, all of my iPhone apps will now have a home on my new site http://appsbynick.com.

It’s a pretty strange feeling now that I know my apps are going to be in the App Store. It’s not that I was expecting to get denied, but I was definitely expecting to wait a few months to find out Apple’s decision. I couldn’t be happier with the one they’ve made.

Maybe now I’ll get super rich off of the App Store and then I can buy an island off of the coast of dubai that I shall call Pi-land! It’ll be filled with wifi and hot wings…

Well, off to celebrate!

I just bought my first non-free iPhone app, and its name is Clax!

I downloaded BCD , too, but I can’t read binary at this hour.

    Congratulations!
